5 Quick Tips: Preparing for A Plus Size Model Agency Interview

Plus size model interview tips

Hooray, you've received a positive response from a plus size modelling agency and you've set up an interview time. Well, what comes next? A decent amount of preparation, of course!

Your interview with the agency is your chance to shine. Make sure that you ace your interview by following these easy 5 tips:

1. Prepare
You should prepare for your interview with a plus size modelling agency as you would for any job. An agency is looking to invest time and training into you, so do use common sense and show some courtesy by properly preparing for your interview.

2. Know Where You Are Going
Before you set out for your interview, make sure that you know where you are going and how long it might take you to get there. Take into consideration traffic or anything that might delay you. Ideally, make sure you leave with plenty of time to spare so you can kill half an hour or so in a coffee shop rather than being rushed or, worse still, late to your interview.

Time keeping, punctuality and reliability are key attributes for any successful plus size model so make sure you know where you are going and get there on time.

3. Research the Agency
Do research the plus size agency you are interviewing with. Take a look at their website and their social media feeds and get to know a bit about them. Have a think about questions and ask them at your interview - make sure that you have at least a couple of questions prepared. If you know the name of the person that will be interviewing you, check out their twitter feed or website also.

4. Dress to Impress
Prepare your outfit well in advance of your interview. Wear something flattering and that actually gives the agency an idea of your body shape. You don't need to wear anything skimpy (in fact, that isn't really advised) but the plus size agency will want to know what your body shape actually looks like.  It is also very likely that they will take your measurements (height, bust, waist) at your interview so something fitted rather than big and baggy is best.

5. Be Yourself
It is completely natural to have nerves but don't let them get the better of you. Make eye contact, hold yourself with good posture and smile, smile, smile! An agency will want to feel confident that you have good interpersonal skills so project the best you. If all else fails, just remember to breathe and try to enjoy yourself!
