The best and most accessible place for most people to start is to search for a plus size model agency on the internet. Try searching for modelling agencies that represent plus size models as well as "regular" modelling agencies as some "regular" agencies also have plus size divisions.
2. Prepare Your Application
Most plus size modelling websites will have instructions as to how they would like to receive your modelling application. Make sure that you read their instructions carefully and actually follow them! Take these applications as seriously as you would when you apply for a job.
Read what you've written carefully and correct any typos and spelling mistakes. You want to convey a professional image right from the get go!
3. Get Snap Happy
You will be expected to send in photographs. Make sure that you send in photographs that are recent and, again, follow the instructions of the agency.
Agencies will typically ask for a front facing head shot, a profile shot and a full length body shot. I repeat, make sure you send the agency what they ask for. If needs be, ask a friend to help you take these shots.
You do not need professional shots! Just simple, clear photos that show off your natural beauty are just fine.
4. Be Careful
Make sure that you approach reputable agencies and never, ever pay anyone any cash for representation. In the same vein, do not splash out on professional photographs, you do not need to spend money on professional modelling shots when putting forward a modelling application.
5. Try, try, try and try again
Do not get disheartened if you get a rejection and do not take it personally - keep your chin up and try, try, try again! You never know when you could get your big break!
